Ordered a Sellers router plane kit in March 23 cost 35pounds plus P&P. It sat there jeering at me for the past 8months while I built up the courage and woodworkshopmanship(?) to tackle it.
Deep breath and I set to.
1. Chose some beech from an offcut which had been rescued from a firewood pile. Trimmed beech to rough dimensions and also dimension a bit for the upstand peice. Shaped it using a shinto but I did use a bandsaw to rip the upstand at the bedding angle as not quite there yet with accurate handsaw ripcuts.
Chop out recess for iron
Leave a little proud (this haunts me later)
Checking the angle
Dry fit using blind pegging upstand to base
Here i realised i had cut things short and didnt have enough of the beech left over so thanks @Simo for selling me some walnut
And I also extended the sole / body with another bit
Then bit of rasping and lots of filing and sanding and then started to fit the metalwork using a guide like Sellers suggests.
Here I realised I'd taken too much off the face of the upstand when planing and the iron no longer stood proud meaning the brace /retention bar wouldn't work. I turned once again to the walnut and planed a very thin bedding strip to line the iron bed.
