I'm making an outside bar, the bar top will be made of a hard wood called Iroko. Wikipedia tells me that it doesn't require regular treatment with varnish or oil, but it still needs sealing right?

any advice on wood finishes for Iroko wood?

Many thanks. I'll be sanding the surface first, then brushing on the finishing stain. It's not got to last an age, I'm only building a pallet bar with a nice wood top.

I'll have a look for the Sikkens stuff, but may have to go for an available alternative...

Thanks again..

Any branch of Brewers (professionlal decorating suppliers) or Jewson should have Sikkens products which are excellent. Brewers have branches in Leeds, York and Scarborough and Jewsson are well represented in N. Yorshire.

If the bar tops gonna be out in the elements all the time I'm not sure sikkens would last that well - assuming it's fitted level.
