Hello Blister. So your not just a bargin hunter, to me that is what I hope to turn someday . It looks great ,what is the wood ,and what finish.
Regards Boysie.

hi blister
the goblet looks great,,hopefully in time i will be able to create a master piece like that.
regards
david.

Very nice :D
Proportions look good, giving it a light,well-balanced look.Like the detail on the stem, highlights without overpowering - and the tapered stem works well.Whole thing looks very well finished.

As Boysie asked, what timber is it ? (inside shot reminds me of iroko)

Very nice, how did you finish it? down to what grit? How tall is it ?
sorry for all the ? but I am having trouble with finishing, keep getting thin lines say around a platter, maybe I need some new sandpaper!!! You can see it in the light close up, but not when you put it on a table, I do not think this is excepable, would like some advice.
Looking at your Goblet you must have it right, again nice finish, well done  :?

lovely finish, little chuncky for my liking. the inside is perfect no tare out :D

Lovely finish and shape. Personally prefer more slender stems but this works. Reminds me of a tudor goblet I saw once, that was pewter but had similar heavier look about it.

Hello , I am very fussy with the finish on my work as It seems a shame to spend time making something and spoiling it at the end

Regarding sanding , I start at 120 / 180 / 240 /320 /400 /600 ,( I never use sandpaper twice , cut a small piece and use all four edges , then in the bin ) then sanding sealer , then nib off with 0000 wire wool in forward and reverse , then sanding seal again , nib off with webrex , then a couple of coats of nice wax polish , Job done !! , and I always get the best finish I can with the chisel and sharpen it before the last cut

size is height , 180 cm ,

I think the wood is mahogany

Thanks for the advice Blister, have written it down to keep in the shed.
Must send away for some more sandpaper!!!
Thomasb (John).
 :)
