i finally finished my first garden furniture project.

The adirondack love seat. The missus painted it blue, she likes it that colour, discussion closed.

And here it is with the one I made earlier.

They look good Bob. Not sure blue would be my first choice either but there you go, design and execution is sound enough to carry it off and your Mrs is happy, what's not to like? Remind her when you are after some new tools that she is part of the overall process :D

About 20 years ago, she came home one day and told me "I've bought a car"

I said "what is it"

She said "its blue".

Honest story.

Years back we were sat in the back garden of a night time having a glass or three of wine. Saw a satellite wizz past in the stratosphere far above.

Me: Fair play that job must take some balls eh?
Mrs: What job?
Me: Well, driving those satellites. You'd have to pay me a lot of money to do that. Sat up there, going round and round the Earth like that.
Mrs: Get out you fool. There's no one driving them.
Me: Well course there is, thats why they have headlights so the pilot can see where he's going.
Long silence....
Mrs: When do they sleep then?
Me: Ah that'll be the co pilot. They probably do it in shifts.

My Mrs is a scientist btw. A proper scientist. Far more intelligent than me in lots of ways. She works on the cure for cancer (really) and I had her believing that satellites have 2 pilots and headlights so they could see where they were going while flying round and round the Earth....

I guess we won't be seeing a cure for cancer in a while then .... :D

I had to wait three days to find out she had bought an Astra. It wasnt new or particularly expensive, but her purchase was solely on the colour.

Sight quicker than if I was on the case Trans. My scientific process invariably utilises progressively bigger hammers and swearing. Also I don't think she's doing it all on her own. :D

@ Bob. At least her favourite colour is not Ferrari Red.

me: what car would you really like
now wife, then friend : a red one, with a spoiler

I give up. 20 years later I got her a red car, it wasn't cheap, it didn't last long before it went back on warranty for a bunch of electrical issues, now she has a silver one, she isn't happy with me. :)

I should have known better.
Now she has the seats, I have to build a pergola over them.
Shoulda stuck to my boxes.

I know, I know, enough already!

i just have to work out now how to lift a 6" x 2" beam 11 ft long, 7 ft in the air, and hold it there while I screw it to the posts at each end, all by myself.
i like a challenge.

Incrementally, climbing up on clamps/clamped blocks on the posts at each end. Just means walking back and forth and small lifts until you get it there.
