Anybody else aware of this, apparently Deneb Puchalski from Lie Nielson will be doing a demo next week in The Toon

Mon 17 Nov - The Town Wall, Pink Lane, Newcastle NE1 5HX (afternoon/evening 1500-2000 – entry free) next to main railway station

Lets try and make this a decent turnout as this type of event in the area is rare and needs to be encouraged

I cant remember any demos like this in the area, so would be good if anyone who can gets along there and makes it a success 8)

Did anybody go to this?

I didn't finish work until 630 so had to miss it but it would be nice to know what i missed

And Jacob: I'd be delighted to offer you accommodation in Hexham! Hell, I'd probably even pay your train fare :) !!!
Right-ho Mike thanks for that very kind of you. Would it be OK to come anyway if I gave old Deneb wossisname a miss?

Jacob: Sure...! :) drop by anytime.

Water-Mark: I went to it from about 6-8. He demonstrated his method of sharpening (honing guide set with jig, 1k/8k waterstones, 'ruler-trick' back-bevel and re-grinding on abrasive paper when necessary). His sharpening methods certainly aren't my cup of tea and I think that he tries to push the most reliable method to get LN customers to get a reasonable edge on their new tools without risking damaging them (ie on a grinder). There are after all many ways to skin the proverbial cat!

He also demonstrated flattening a board with scrub plane, toothed LA Jack and no8 plane, and cut a 'rabbit' with a large shoulder plane.

Mike

Thanks Mike, I'd like to have supported this but from the sounds of it I doubt I'd have taken much from it anyway.

It's just not the kind of thing I do.
