I need to buy the removable plastic cover attached to the table where the blade protrudes from. Do not know proper name, mine has broken off .

You can make on using a bit of ply or mdf.

Drop blade right down below the table
Shape to fit exactly. Fix in place using whichever screws came with it or replacements.
Switch on saw and bring the blade up so it cuts the slot. this will give you zero clearance.

For 45deg cuts, you can use a file to file a bit of an angle on that slot.
