Here's what i was up to this week.

Here's a couple simple octagon native american drum frames

Skinned with goat hide and laced with static climbing rope, 45cm diagonal

Very nice. When I read the title I thought it was going to be tongue drums, for some reason. Another item on my never ending todo list :roll:
 
Well they are rather simple, but who doesn't appreciate the little is not worthy of the large.

Here's another drum i did, 19" diameter and 22' high, raw cowhide, steel rings and hemprope

Yes, i did the skins too. Had the rings made by a blacksmith, painted them to prevent rust, then stretched the skins with thin rope until a they produce a mellow tone and then the sewing begins... Next time i'll use a nail to make the holes before sticking the needle through. Used 1,5 mm kite string.
