Stig,
Its just a thought but maybe you should consider the following:_
1) It may be your first bench and so it should be solid but not too expensive
2) You will need to learn what will work for you and what you dislike so it should'nt be too expensive
3) Less expensive pine/ 2x4s will make a grand solid bench which will give you good service for 10s of years
4) The message about Bob Keys benches was to persuade you that a simpler to build, get moving quickly bench would be your best bet
5) Bob Keys designs and approach are very highly regarded.
Now if your highly skilled and want an ultimate bench then go for the beech/wenge/ipe mastercraftsmans bench. It won't be any more functional than the cheaper pine bench but it will be beautiful and stylish as well.
