If I would change one thing I would adjust the angle of the seat to about 25 degrees rather than 30.

I can photograph anything you can't work out from the drawing, just let me know.

These posts make you realise how lucky I am without even trying. Not going to tempt fate by saying why but you get my drift. What makes it even more amazing is that when I went to school in the '70's, if you were late the teacher (who was built like the proverbial brick outside convenience), would take great pleasure in whomping you on your back with his paddle of a hand. He would also ensure that you took off your blazer. My mate reckons he got his "glass back" due to this form of corporal punishment.

Honestly mate forgo the look of the chair for your health. I went off looking at Captain's Chairs after I posted and, my god, they aren't designed for bad backs, how did any they sail the seven in them? No lumbar support at all.

In fact most chairs do not have lumbar support.

Both those chairs are good. I have a version of the first one in my office at work and a version of the 2nd one in my office at home. I'm tall so the head support is nice.

They obviously look quite ugly. But bad health is uglier.

Sounds like you have been luckier (and more sensible to get private cover) than I am. I, essentially, need 3 levels fusing which the NHS won't do for cost reasons more than anything. Be careful on the pitch. Bad backs are a little frustrating :shock:

Ah well... While the Captain has his job to do, he isn't normally required to do any manual labour. Also if his 'lumbago' is playing him up, he could catch a few Zzzz's in his cabin and leave everything to Jimmy the One (The First Mate). :lol:

I hasten to add... I know what herniated discs are like.However, in the RN, you were always diagnosed with 'Lumbago' and given two aspirins.
