I have been trying my hand at bowl turning after recently buying a chuck. Here are my first efforts

Proper job, Jaymar. I like the box; lovely grain continuity. How much trouble did that fissure in the beech give you?

Yes it is spalted beech Neil, I managed to get a block of it from a country woodmill along with some other interesting bits.
Alf, the dodgy bit caused a heap of trouble, in fact that bowl was double that hight but I had to make alterations when a large piece of the rim fell out. I managed to buy an enormous block of sycamore but I'm a bit scared to start on that, must practice more.
