Latest hollow form green turned horse chestnut, oven dried and other work.

Green turned then baked in oven for 1 1/2 hours at 70 deg then sanded and finished.




40mm Oak worktop offcut Plater 14 " dia





More Oak Worktop two pieces stuck at 90 deg to each other top piece is ring cut from outside of smaller platter. 16 dia x 3.5 " ht





Peper and Salt Mills in Walnut first attempt at this type of thing.

The horse chestnut came from a farm in the village they had three taken down due to rot in the main trunks.

OR

It is great to turn wet you just need to wear a raincoat so much water.
May go back and get some more if I can move it, the logs are on my photo bucket account you can see the size of the trunk

apologies I was not too clear was I :oops:

I meant turning it. I have found it cut like hot knife through butter but I left some for a few months and when I went to turn it, it was too soft.

Nice how you found it too. Nothing like using local wood. well not nice as we are loosing a lot of horse chestnut now due to this desease, but you know what I mean.
