Kity NVR Problems - electrial help

I have an old Kity bandsaw and the NVR works most of the time and when it stops working you have to unscrew it and turn it upside down to get it to work.
I bought one of the Trend NVR's from Trend.
I have the following going to the saw after the NVR
Yellow/Green - earth
Blue - Neutral
Brown Live
Black - Return ??
I want to attach them to a 13amp plug that will plug into the Trend NVR.
Do I connect both the brown and black to the live??

Replaced the old Kity NVR with the one from Trend on the E bay auction. Discovered that the French use the neutral for the circuit as apposed to the live that is used in the UK so I connected the black from the motor to the Blue (neutral) on the 13amp plug. The plug goes into the plug point on the NVR - works very well and now I don't have to use that French plug.
