can you over tension a blade? providing that it doesnt break the weld or sound like a piano wire when twanged, does it cause problems?

I doubt that! haha My second bandsaw in 3 months and I'm still not entirely sure it's the right size for me/my workshop :lol:

Yes it can lead to premature bearing wear on the wheels as well as the strain on the motor
it can also have an effect on the tyre wear as it is compressing the tyre more than it should
 
Thanks again for all the help guys! After the initial panic :lol: and replacing the capacitor I've had a chance to set it up properly and use it and found it to be a bit small for my needs really, plenty powerful but I need slightly more depth. It's not up for sale in the Market Place forum :D
