Hi, just wondering if anyone owns/has experience of these?

http://www.kityuk.net/429spindle.html

I'm looking for something which will cut tenons for cabinetry, quickly and accurately, in a single pass, and to use for light rebating and grooving. I don't care about its ability to do anything else, but it has to be 100% up to these jobs.

It won't be used for making windows or garden gates or anything like that. Still 1.5 KW isn't much and i can't be doing with a machine that will get bogged down....

Kity's blurb says

professional results from a compact, stable machine with industrial motor rating

Is this wishful thinking or an accurate reflection of the machine's capabilities?

The other option I'm looking at is the Axminster AW30S (which has mysteriously gone up rather a lot in price overnight :( ).

Obviously the Axminster is a lot more machine, but I like the idea of the lightness, and cheapness of the Kity, given my limited uses for it....

Opinions anyone?

Thanks,

Marcus

With a max tool dia of 140mm you won't get a pair of tennoning heads that small so "one pass" is out of the question. If you fit a rebate block with a countersunk bore then you can run the tennon over the top then flip it over for a second pass.

Having said that you won't be able to take off a massive bite in hardwood as the machine will bog down (I have the same parts making up my combi) Easier to bandsaw and clean up on the router table.
