I need to hang some blocks of wood onto the wall to act as clock markers. They are reasonably sized- 40x40x100, and 2 sticky pads aren’t holding them like I hoped that they would.

The next idea is to use a keyhole router bit and make a quick jig- is there any other/better suggestions?

Keyhole router bit is one of my most favourite method for secret fixing smallish stuff to walls. If you haven't got one I'd 100% recommend getting one !

having just looked at a video on youtube, this isnt quite going to work, because only the 3, 6, 9 and 12 blocks are going to be veritcal or horizontal. The others will be at odd angles, making marking and measuring very complex.

i am wondering whether to epoxy a woodscrew into each block, by its head, then just plug and screw the wall.

Not entirely sure what you mean but the screw can be would in so it pulled the piece of wood tight to the wall so theres a bit of friction. With picture frames I quite often stick on little rubber stickers so it doesn't mark the wall- little felt ones would do the same but be less visible.

Marcros I've got ten pieces of sticky back Velcro about 100mm x 32mm if you PM me your address I'll drop them in the post, I'm not sure where these came from but I suspect they were my late brother-in-laws.

Thank you bh- i have actually borrowed something similar from work so will try it- thanks for the offer.

The friction on the wall with the keyhole system may be enough- i hadnt appreciated that. Looks a useful cutter anyway so will get one.

Junior wood butcher here, slowly building a small workshop on extremely limited funds, and I mainly make picture frames ou of reclaimed timber, so am really interested in the keyhole cutter. I'm picking up a pillar drill tomorrow but won't be able to afford a router for months, so....... I know all the arguments against using router bits in drills, but would this be all that much strain on the quill if used sparingly?

Rout a dovetail edge on both edges on a strip of wood, say 30 mm x 12 mm, split down the middle and screw one piece to the wall with the dovetail shape upwards, screw the other piece to your cupboard or whatever at a suitable height, hang cupboard dovetail into dovetail.
