I reckon they are over priced even at the reduced price.....and if you look when Norm uses his extra large ones they seem to show a bend/twist along the length when he clamps large sections on cabinets????
Or is it my eyes and age..or am I jealous..

I make do with the ali ones.......

Didn't you answer your own question there, Mike: "I make do with the ali ones.." :)

I'd love to splash out on them, but it always seems like unnecessary cost. But then I don't actually make stuff .... ;)

Yeh suppose I did......

Have you tried the cheap version supplied by Axminster?

They look ok for starters?

Mike

I'm with Ray on this, they ARE the best without a doubt. I only have one at the moment but do intend buying more when funds allow. IMHO they can't be beaten and quality costs.

I got a set of the Axminster ones (600 mm) when thy ran a promotion last year. They went straight back as the sliding head wouldn't grip on the bar. To be fair to Axminster, they sent out replacement parts, even after the clamps had been returned, so I think the problem is sorted out now. Definitely not of the same quality or ease of use as K bodies, but they are much cheaper. I have traditional type sash cramps and a set of four 1000 mm K bodies...I always reach for the K bodies first. Unfortunately in the current financial climate, my money is staying safely in the old biscuit tin under the bed.

These kind o sales are to be expected more. Stores are selling out the old mode K bodies (have been some huge sales in the USA also). For a while now Bessey only makes the new K Revo and K Revo Vario.

I've recently bought a set of the K Revo's in 60cm length. They are excelent and in my opinion way better than the old model, not that they are no good.

I have to admit I used to be sceptical. Then I bought a pair of K Bodies - now I curse every time I build something bigger than that pair of clamps!!!

I have 8 K Bodies and they are the best clamps I've ever used.

They are pricey, but I worked through a lot of cheaper clamps before taking the plunge and then wished I'd gone straight to the Besseys.

I've been waiting for the reductions to come, making way for the new model, this doesn't seem like that much of a saving to me, maybe £4 per clamp for K100. Hoping for the savings that the Americans seemed to be getting but no sign yet.

The K bodies are well worth the money - in fact, I used mine today and they squared up a piece of furniture very efficiently.

I'm not sure I would go for this deal, though. With the Midlands woodworking show in the offing, I think I'll see if they are on special offer there.

Bessey clamps are still on sale here....never have enough clamps,I bought a whole set on sale for 500.00.... 4 -48" 4- 24 " and 4 - 36" & 4- 12" with a clamp rack on wheels. Then I heard about Jet clamps, they are pretty good too and a lot more useful, they rachet better then Bessey clamps.
But I started out with Bessey so now I use Bessey.Proud owner of 24 of them currently.
Woodcraft sells their brand that looks like a knock off of Bessey but made in China. So they now have the Bessey on sale.

I wish they'd sell those Jet ones over here, they look interesting.

Aren't the new Bessey's similar to the Jet's?

The new Besseys don't have a measurement scale.
The Jet don't have both heads movablee.
The Jets don't have the extra spacers.

Not over here, the Jet ones are heavier and stand on their own rachet Or engage better.....but the new besseys can be joined (ganged together)with a piece of steel.

So which one do our US cousins prefer - the new Bessey or the Jet?

I'm going to the States soon and might pick some up.

Some people like the jet because its beefier...and the slide action is crisper...The Bessey is coming out with a new version this fall so I may get some more then, never can have enough clamps.
