Some really nice pieces there Jonzjob, and a great variety of different things. Really enjoyed poking my nose around.

PS - 'Monkey's fists' only ever had 3 turns.

Nice John,

Love all your pyrography work, make it all so very personal.

Thanks for sharing the pics...It has given me some inspiration &
motivation to get a move on.
I am getting round to making a chisel sharpening jig bit like yours..

An R.A.F. monkey always had 4 fingers Tam :D , besides which the size of the ball I had turned and the size of the cord would have left bits a bit bare.

OK for the navy, wavy or other, but not for the superior service

Thank you everyone. I love working wood and the last time I had a bit explode off the lathe was 2 daze ago when I was trying to take liberties with a piece of platan, from the side of the Canal du Midi, that had a shake in it. It's back in one piece and destined as a small gift to a French forester who has given me some tulip tree wood pieces.

The sharpening jig is so easy to make and use and it only takes a few seconds to put the edge back on your tools.

That mouse is my favorite. The wrens a very close second. Once you get the idea of pyrography it is not difficult and I always stencil the picture onto the piece before the burning and a bit of practice and the 2 volt pyro pen that I got from Axminster is a boon. I turned myself a new pen because the one supplied is too bulky for me and now it's great.

Ex-RAF John ?

Did 7 years myself, was with TCW.

Loz

TCW? not sure what that is Loz? A bit late for me?

I was an aircraft eleky for 12 years until 74. Mainly on large transports at Lyneham and Brize Norton. ritannias, Comet 2 and 4Cs, VC10s and Belslugs, sorry, Belfasts. I also had to suffer 2 1/2 years in Singapore. Hell, but someone had to do it

Bed calls! Sleep tight!

I t'was at sea John, merchant, 32 years, worked for the RFA (MOD) for the last 26 years before I was retired. All our 'monkey's fist' had to do was cover a ¼lb lead weight, made with 3 turns of 1½" rope, (heaving line). Wish I had a £1 for everyone of them I made.
