A short while back, there was a thread about not throwing your scraps away, turn them into pens.
You can also turn them into jewellery. A while back (before I retired) I used to sell a few in the firm I worked at, (lots of females)
I still had some when I left. Here's a few pics of the sort I did.

A pendant of Ovangkol and Sycamore with matching earings.

A brooch with earrings Lignam & Sycamore.

Another brooch & earrings, African blackwood

Teardrops in edit(Mahogany) not Mahogany - Afrormosia.

Rings in Padauk.

Some shallow cones, also Padauk.

African Blackwood.

earrings, Beech, Ovangkol & Sycamore

Apologies for the pics the they are not my best

Lovely work, John ... really effective.

To my mind, they have a bit of an 'African' flavour to them ... and are all wonderful pieces.

Great to see something a little different once again, like Ian's recent pendant thread.
Some definate food for thought there !

Fantastic ! 8) 8) 8) 8)

Well done John, jewellery is somewhere on my list of things to do.

I like your designs. Great way to use wood. Don't chuck anything!

Only use centre drives and faceplates? Cheaper I s'pose

Sorry...In stupid mood. I'm getting dragged to a ballet tonight so I'm sort of semi comatose in preparation

I'd be proud to wear those, especially the pendant :) .

It's given me some ideas for when I finally get back into the workshop - unfortunately, I'll probably forget them before then. Someone remind me of this thread when they eventually hear the sounds of wood being tortured in my workshop ;) :) .

You should see the size of the furniture tuit list!

Coppelia is fantastic! You lucky so-and-so :) . I defy anyone to see that ballet and not have a great night out. I was lucky enough to catch the BRB perform it a few years ago and I can't remember seeing such charming, exuberant farce on stage.

Morning Steve,
No, I've never sold at a craft fair, always meant to but never really collected enough diverse stock to make it worthwhile.
The company I worked for had quite a few females so I had a regular cliental. They sold fairly well in the company but as I never did extend outside, I was never to realise how they would have gone, on the open market.
Mind you, I've never wanted to do it as a major source of income. I enjoy turning different things but not on masse.
After I've turned a dozen or so of one thing, I get fed up and move on to the next project.
Having said that. If someone orders something I'll not turn it down.
It helps to buy the next tool or raw material.
