I little while back when the offer was on for the Jet Wetstone grinder a lot of people bought them, but I remember there been a bit of hoorar about wobble in the wheels and returned units. Is this true for everyone, are there happy Jet WetStone customers out there?

Yup. As with any wetstone, have to true the wheel initially - with the JET diamond truing tool. Does what it says on the tin. If you can't bring yourself for whatever reason to shell out on a Tormek, its a damn good tool IMO.

I have a Jet, the LOML bought it for my Christmas present a few years ago. :D Back then there was a bigger price difference than today, it came with a few more bits as standard as well, I am not sure the current deal is as good.
I have the knife jigs, one from Jet, one form Tormek not a lot of difference. I have the new Tormek truing jig, it will take the diamond on the mount from the original jet truing jig, you need to make a spacer to use it as the guide bar is mounted further away from the wheel, not hard to do and well worth doing the stone comes out much better for grinding wide blades.
I also have the Jet turning gouge jig, much cheaper than the Tormek one but does not have the same level of adjustment, but for me as a newbie turner it does the job nicely. I have the Jet tool rest, under half the price of the Tormek one. I use this when grinding skews and scrapers.
I have also bought the Tormek planner knife jig, its a bit of a beast and I have not striped the knives out of my Multico to try it yet, but with this oak coming along I don't think it will be long.

I love the machine, but until I started turning did not use it all of the time. For plane irons and chisels I like to grind hollow edges on the wet grinder and then use a fine diamond stone to re sharpen, I have ceramic stones for the final hone to a mirror finish, only going back to the wet stone when the secondary bevel gets big.

Same experience here.

I bought one early on when, as others have said, they were doing a good 'bundle' deal.

The only possible issue is that the Tormek has a s/steel shaft and the Jet does not. This has led to some corrosion on the end of the shaft / wheel retaining nut but is only a visual thing, it does not affect performance in any way.

Having used both Tormek and Jet, I really can't see much difference at all and would recommend either unit without hesitation.
