Hi To All

Bought a Jet Wetstone Grinder from Axminster in the special offer, it was delivered today, the Jet box came inside a plain brown box on the side of the box it has the model number, serial number and also it has Made in China to Jets Spesifications, has any one else bought a Jet Wetstone Grinder from Axminster made in China.

No, but my P/T is made in china if that helps?

Unless things have changed, the bigger Jet machines such as the Supersaw and bandsaws are made in Taiwan. It could be the smaller benchtop and budget stuff is Chinese though.
If Nick (jetman) still looks in here, he'll no doubt be able to confirm the origins.

cheers,
Andy

Carl mine was the same, I have given it a right old canning in the last couple of days. I should have bought the diamond dresser, I have used my course DMT diamond stone, probably ruined it.

I wonder if the huge rise in fuel costs will change this trade?

Yes I think it will. Steel City in America have just started to build on homeland again due to the rise in fuel and import costs.

Could this be the start of 'de-globalisation'??

It would be good to see local manufacturing take off again. Can only be a good thing for the small guys to see cracks appearing in the big boys practice.

I know of a moulding company that's pulled all their manufacturing from China back to the UK. It's now cheaper here! I recently ordered some injection mould tooling from a firm in Hereford. They were cheaper on tooling (in-house) and piecepart price than 3 Chinese companies. The b*****s are sharp as needles in business, but things are starting to bite them back in the arse now. Inward investment is beginning to ease off.
