Japanese Gotoku plane

I found this in the second hand shop for equivalent GBP 1.

I little bit of tidying up on the bottom and a blade repair for a nick and now this is a very useful tool! I had to take quite a bit off the blade so put a half millimetre aluminium strip on to get the right depth. Blade width is sixty eight millimetres.

Any makers info ? Some of these planes can be rare and sought after and can be worth a lot of money.
But despite that, would be interesting to know the history.

The vendors mark the tools with a sticker and this has too little remaining for it to be read. The blades are nearly always marked by the forger but these signatures are very old styled kanji characters, probably inherited from generations ago and so the wife can not read it and google can not translate it.
There seems to be few being offered new now; I can find some being sold for equiv. GBP 150 but with little or no info on the blade. Some being sold by traditional forges are closer to GBP 300.
Set up can be a little tricky. I have got this one to just under two tenths millimetre but trying to get closer to one tenth.

Japanese plane *Wakitori kanna*

I think this was unused; maybe came out of a tool store that closed down as the second hand store had three of them all with price tags on that looked possibly about thirty or forty years old. The blade had rusted a bit so I gave that a few strokes on the whetstones and lightly sanded the block to clean it a bit and hey presto!

It's used for edging and bottom.

I think I need to go back to the shop just to check the others are same side (left) otherwise I will get the other side too (equiv. GBP 3).
