I've just acquired a load of willow after a tree next door was felled. I was given to me as fire wood. But I'm wondering whether it would do anything on the lathe.
Not a lot. Apart from taking forever to dry it is very soft and squishy wood. I don't know what type of wood they use to make cricket bats or what they do to it but the stuff I have had was useless, doesn't even burn that well. Mind you there are a number of types of willow so it may be a different one
Might be interesting for practise, but from everything I've heard over the years, it's a bugger to work. Tho I wonder how they ever made bats out of it.
