Tickets for Tosca at Royal Opera Covent Garden (the performances with Georghiu and Terfel) sold out within minutes.

Some have appeared on eBay...a couple of seats at face\value £150 went for £900.

Then there are these

where the face value is £180 and yet no-one is bidding for them. Looking closely at the seat numbers the seats are not next to each other. That might not be that significant. But the seller prefers PayPal to cash ....Mmmmm...I smell something fishy.

What do the rest of you think?

I think most people think The Royal Opera House is a scam, yep... I'm an ignoramous in the ways of the 'bay, but would it not be fishier if the seller only took cash and wouldn't accept Paypal?

Cheers, Alf

To be honest he probably wanted PayPal only because it was quick and garunteed. Buyers can be as bad as sellers on eBay. I have had buyers muck me about for weeks when paying by means other than PayPal. I'm no great fan of PayPal, but it is easier and safer to use them.

The seat thing is a common thing on eBay now. Pro sellers hoover up all the cheap single seats left and sell them at a profit.

I am tempted to say yes, ebay is a scam :D

But then I have only used it a couple of times and been subjected to a fraudulent sale on my first encounter

I rang Covent Garden to see if they could at least confirm that the two tickets had been bought by the same person (not after their name obviously) but unfortunately their systems couldn't dig out that information.

Decided to let this one go...as have most others it would seem as it does seem strange that there was only the one bidder. Tickets for this are like golddust
