Have been looking for a long time for a mitre saw that can do 10cm thick stuff, all have been very expensive and very far even for used ones if you need at least halfdecent brand, well Today found this Ryobi Ems -1830sc Mitre saw, thought the brand is at least well known and although it's a budget brand have seen people using their tools so just bidded on it on last second without doing any research other than that it can cut a whooping 11cm thick stuff.

However wanted to know how decent this ryobi brand and that saw is?
Anyone who has some of their tools or maybe their mitre saw can comment?

Thanks.

Be aware that just because the manufacturers say something will cut 100mm, 200mm or whatever it doesn't mean it will do it -
1/ more than once in a blue moon
2/ easily and accurately.

I have had a Ryobi 18v drill and some other stuff for at least 10 years. Still going strong. Sadly they now appear to be a budget brand in lime green stocked by the DIY sheds.

that particular saw seems to be from 2004 and pretty much everything made from metal at weight of 32kg, so hopefully not from the lime green range?

I contacted Ryobi earlier this year when in the market for a sliding mitre saw.

The nice guy at customer services told me that Ryobi was aimed at the diy market not professional, so I bought a dewalt.

seems a shame that Ryobi have now targeted themsleves at the DIY only market as I remember them making some pretty good kit and not that long ago before they went to that stomach churning colour

I have a couple of Ryobi products. They're probably better than most of the other DIY brands but they don't have any stand out tools. I've used an 18v drill of theirs almost daily for about 6 months and it's getting towards being on its last legs.

Always thought of them as 'light trade' - a bit better than the own-brand DIY shed stuff - though as the parent company (TTI) also owns the Milwaukee and AEG brands I think it's pretty clear where Ryobi fits in that lineup...
