Hi guys.... as the title says... is magnolia any good for turning.?

Will be felling a rather large magnolia 'tree' in the new year. If its good for turning then i'll try and save as much in the way of large 'chunks'as possible. If not i'll split it for firewood.

It's nice- close grained and heavy. The colour is a bit like sycamore with some colour in the centre. Finishes well. Enjoy!

This is the tree...

The cherry on the right is dead and needs removing too....

Magnolia is great to turn, pale grey with good symmetrical grain when split and turned sideways as for bowls. Just got some more myself. Good luck!
