HI there my local diy shop has a RECORD DML24X lathe with table he has had it in his shop for some months as there is slight surface rust on bits and bobs - nothing to worry about i'm sure a little TLC will soon sort that out.. apparently it has 3-4 speeds on it but you have to loosen the motor and move the belt to different pulleys.
I am new to the world of turning and this would be my first lathe. I asked the fellow if there is a bowl turning attatchment for this model he said no but remove the end spindle and move the motor spindle to the end and that would work ok, his assistant did say that is a bit of a dodgy way of doing it.
Anyway as a begginer would this be a suitable lathe? I`m going to google it and check it out but wondered if anyone knows this machine and give some advice many thanks guys

No its not worth 200 !!!

- i got my dml36 mk2 cam new for that with a banch and a bwl attachment, plus set of tools, faceplate, screw chuck etc.

Ill have an ebay for you.

Hi BatFink,

£200 is too much!! for the DML24

I have a DML36SH with bowl attachment and RP3000 chuck with most of the jaws and other bits I am selling for £200.

PM me if you are interested.

Regards,

Mike C

Hi Loz,

I will have to check when I get home but I have most of them. All are in good condition except the springs on the 3" expansion jaws are loose but it doesn't affect the operation. Will let you know tonight.

Regards,

I this new or second hand,as they are this price new.Look
Here
I sold my DML24 for £60,British made  but i Just didn't like it.
Bought the Perform lathe after which was cheaper and had the variable speed, which was a vast improvement.I think. :D

Definetly not (although everything is worth what someone will pay for it!) I managed to buy a Coronot No1 with chuck and some chisels for 46 pounds!

time to hit ebay, set a sensible limit and be prepared to lose a few. It took me a few weeks but i am very pleased with my new toy.

...of course I don't know how to use it but thats another story!

oh heres a link to mine

I will admit it was something of a bargain!

You guys are definately right.. ive seen a nice 36" with tools etc for £200 plus delivery of cors and yes ebay does have some good deals only problem is the nearest one to me is 120 miles as the crow flies in reality about 160 so a 300+ mile round trip plus toll bridge fees tends to make a bargain not so much of a bargain.. these are the times i hate living in the sticks
I am sooooo glad i found this forum as being a newbie to all this woodworking stuff i would have thought that was a steal, thanks for your speedy advice guys you've saved me from making a mistake :D
