Welding clamps surely are just used to hold things in place, surely? You're not trying to squeeze steel tenons into steel mortices.
And pull warped steel flat... I guess it depends what you want your clamps to do. They don’t look like they’re intended for timber framing, similarly neither do instrument makers clamps. Given the distance from the bar to the pad and the dimensions of the bar, these aren’t intended to exert much force, no matter what mechanism they have to apply it, that bar is a spring that’s used to apply the force to the workpiece, I could put a hydraulic cylinder on the pad and it wouldn’t exert any more force than the spring can resist.
They are a bit smaller than some bessey clamps I use that are cast magnesium with nylon levers, they’re absolutely great and hold plenty tight enough.

The only fairly recent newish design clamp I've come across that seems worthy of merit to me is Bessey's Gearklamp's although I don't own any as I've got plenty of one handed quick grip style clamps that I feel would do the job just as well for my needs when my collection of F clamps aren't up to the task.

Question on clamp pressure? How tight is too tight for glue up.
Some just nip up on the joint, some seem to put so much pressure as to try and squeeze out all the glue.

Interesting video on it from Matthias Wandel
