Hi

Bearing in mind that the cupboard will be in my living room (and therefore hopefully not getting wet), is there any issue with using iron knobs for the door?

I understand oak can react to the iron, but is this likely indoors? I'm intending to wax the wood, with no other finish.

Thanks!

Could be wrong here but others will along soon to correct, as long as you have waxed the oak first and it stays dry i see no reason why you cant use iron knobs . you may over time get a slight darkening around the fittings but that would in my opinion add to rather than detract from the overall finish.

Thanks - that's pretty much what I was hoping.

It's a "rustic" design anyway, with some waney edges, so a bit of character like that will work.

Thanks again

As above, with the oak door being seasoned, iron fittings or furniture shouldn't be any problem and go black

Regards Rodders

Clear varnish on the back of the iron against the oak a good precaution. I've used the quick dry before without problems.
