Hi Mark,

I really like how this piece has many different elements that combine to create a well balanced and thoughtful whole.

I really like the shape of the little box, also i've made a few knifes with leather sheaths so I appreciate your use of leather here to. Sorry, I'm assuming the cord is leather?

Nice 1.

Hi

Yes the cord is leather.

Thanks for your comment

To clarify

The pieces I make I take the reference for them from several Japanese philosophies such as Wabi-Sabi and Zen.

I do not actually make reference to anything Japanese I actually see but apply the philosophy in the way I interpret it.

If you check out my blog via my web site I talk about the back ground behind the piece.

Pleasantly 'different', yet in keeping with your liking of the Japanese culture and philosophy.
I like it a lot ... and its not immediately recognisable as a 'mark' piece, despite it's 'Japanese-ness'.
And also good to get to see the incorporation of diverse materials to enhance the finished article... the whole thing works very well, I reckon !

A very pleasant surprise... something a little different, and as always, immaculately executed !

Mark - its brilliant 8)

Hi Jenx

Sorry I missed this. Thank you for your comments much appreciated.

I missed this one Mark, so I'm glad you've resurected the thread. Its a really sweet little box. Oval eh? very clever  The colouring, style and execution of the piece are first rate. Very well done indeed.

Hi Johnny

Thank you for your comment. I enjoy making these and the fact that they are oval makes the standard box a bit more interesting for me.
