Some truly terrifying examples of idiots on ladders here, not sure whether to laugh or cry at some of them.

Just accidents waiting to happen, I wonder how any of these blokes have lasted so long!
Regards Rodders

Some goodies in that lot, but I think that I can at least compete with any of them?

This was taken, by me, in our garden when we emloyed a French 'professional' gardener to take a couple of pine trees down in front of our house. At this stage he is 10 foot up a ladder holding on with his left hand and a top handle chain saw in his right. It's just a few inches away from his throat! I took the photo and retired smartly to my workshop at the back of the house, turned the radio up loud and used the noisiest bit of kit I could find. I didn't want to know!

I'm glad to say hat we didn't get a load of blood in our swimming pool just to his right!

lots of candidates for the Darwin awards.... what really worries me is that a lot of these people are supposedly 'professionals'....

This where H&S falls down (excuse pun), No amount of legislation can protect against stupidity, or in many cases, just being in a hurry. Courts need to be more aware of stupid behaviour and hold individuals a little more culpable for their own actions in many cases.

But much better to have the H&S than none at all. Don't forget that building/site work has one of the highest accident/ death rates of any occupation.

I was once an ***** up a ladder! I was replacing the glazing bars on our conservatory roof using a wooden step ladder of the old design with a platform but no bar across the top. Went up and down this ladder all day and was fixing the last glazing bar when I stepped back to come down the steps but it was the open side  . I fell just five feet but shattered my wrist on a serving trolley going down before breaking my arm below the shoulder as I hit the deck. Hard lesson because I was off work for three months and six months before they let me drive. When I came home out of hospital my wife had sawn up the step ladder and binned it (hammer)

Don't take chances, it can happen to you and it hurts or worse #-o

Regards Keith

Yes, I wasn't suggesting H&S regs were a bad thing but if someone decides to be an ***** given they have have access to the correct equipment and have had safety explained to them then they should have little scope for claiming compensation. Actually it's not so much the courts but the insurers who would rather pay out than take it to court.

A lot of the time you just need the, err, balls, to go for it.
