So you could slice 90x10, 80x20 (vertically), etc?
 
Another way of doing it if you want to use the router is to make a shooting board for the thickness of stock you are using. the guide roller will run on the base of you shooting board and the fence would help against spelching out off the end.
But how well it would work will depend on how big a piece you are cutting. wether you will be able to lock it down without hindering the router base.
 
I've used one of those Mitre Trimmer's at college and agree that they are very, very good. It is essential that you keep the blade sharp for a perfect finish and also to prevent breakout or spelching. The 90º stop was slightly off on our trimmer but, it is adjustable.

I've also had success in making a Donkey's Ear Shooting Board from ply and oak offcuts. Only took two or three hours to do. :)
