Hi all!

I bought 4 beautiful furniture raisers a while back from someone. This person had a really hard to find website, did not get an email confirmation of my purchase and now I need to find them and... I lost complete trace of them (what not to do to lose business hey?)

Anyway, I have uploaded pictures of the beautiful bed raisers and now I need new ones!

Can someone make me new ones but I need them to raise the bed higher.... and I also need 2 for the middle of the bed as it is cracking in half...

Could someone make me 4 of the exact ones in that exact wood in the pictures (dont know what its called sorry) and for the rise to be 7cm high?

Measurements of current item:
5.8cm height
7.5cm diameter wide bottom side
6.8cm diameter wide top side

Hole where the legs sit in:
5cm diameter wide
2.3cm deep

5.8 height minus 2.3cm deep makes the leg rise by 3.5cm.

I need new ones 7cm rise for my bed and not 3.5cm. Could you do that for me? The lovely curved shape and wood type is exactly what I want and also the hole diameter where the legs sit in is perfect at 5cm.

Also could you make me 2 rectangular shape ones? The square hole has to be 5cm by 5cm to fit square legs which are in the middle of the bed. Again the rise needs to be 7cm.

Please can you help me with these 6 items. If not can you suggest someone who could?

Thanks so much.text/call 07738158388.

All the best

Maria

Hi Maria,
It looks like the originals are made from Oak.
I will wait and see what other comments come in before making any suggestions.

take care

Hi Maria

I would suggest that you remove your mobile number for your own benefit
People can PM you if needed
2 options:
This is a real basic task for a woodturner and looks like Oak to me, the straight legs look like beech (I could be wrong)
maybe put a quick request in the woodturning section
Find a local woodturning club and pop in and ask the question

unless I missed something someone would need the height of the square legs at the moment
also would they look better being round to match the other 4

and another thought...would you be better off having new legs made rather than risers?

Steve

Hi Don and Steve

Thanks both for the reply.

Yes I think they are oak. So beautiful but cant find this person!

Steve, I agree I think yes 6 raisers made exactly the same is a great option just to make life easier. Just bare in mind the hole has to be big enough to fit the square foot in which is 4.5 by 4.5cm .

The bed legs are really sturdily inserted and seems like hell to remove them and to drill new ones in. No too hectic to even think about. The less DIY on my end the better. Plus I can not use my arm and don't have someone who is very DIY in the household to help.

I spoke with woodturners near where I live and they said 'its not something we do'. London based wood turners tend to want 'bigger' jobs to handle. A little fussy. But there is a gentleman who called and said he works with a local school who teach wood turning and could ask them. Will see...

Will post in the woodturning section too thanks.

The other idea I thought of was slightly on the DIY side... get 4 wooden bun feet (usually used as sofa chair feet), use Gorilla glue to attach them to the bottom of the current oak raiser I have just to make them raised a little more. For the 2 rectangular feet I would go to my local DIY store and get chunks of wood to the same height and shove them under the feet. Not a 'neat' or 'pretty' alternative but certainly an option I am seriously considering... it is taking longer to kind a woodturner to do the job than to do this option to be honest.

Thanks for the help

Maria

If the legs are not on show and looks are not important, I would go with the two joined together approach, quick and easy. But as well as glue, I would put one big screw down through the middle to stop any possibility of the glue letting go and the two sliding sideways apart.
Sounds a snobby bunch of turners that would say "not something we would do". With the right equipment, thats a very simple job.
