The wife got her new oven but it is shorter in height than her previous model (see gap)

Has anyone please got a piece of brushed SS or Ali 600mm x 100mm they can supply me with, naturally all expenses covered.
(Having trouble getting a small piece and trying to avoid wastage)

I'd be able to get you a piece of SS but perhaps someone closer will have it. Shipping would be less costly.

Does it have to be metal? Could you make a filler panel with tiles on it or something?

The lady has got the Midas touch at the moment, I have only just managed to get her down from wanting Platinum :)

BTW the lady neighbour came in to show my wife her new shoes yesterday, cost £145. Her husband telephoned me later to discuss the cost and I said I would swap, mine had an oven costing, £........?

I can almost hear SWMBO talking here, but I'll say it anyway... You could use that space for storing baking trays etc. relatively easily, if you could match the front with the other drawer fronts.

I think I need to spend more time in the 'shop - I can't believe I just made a suggestion like that!!!

Hi dw,

I've just put s ection of ss in the loft for storage. It's the unused part of an extractor hood. Unfortunately the 'brush' is across rather than down the hood so it wouldn't match the cooker. To get the right grain on the piece I have you would have to 'unbend' the hood.

I'll have a check tonight if I've got anything else.

Dave

HI DW,

Is the laminate on those cupboards white? If so a piece of Contiplas would probably look OK.

Cheers

Yes it has crossed my mind but we do have cupboards already above and below oven.

You can never have too much storage in kitchen :D

You should be able to get a stainless kick plate easy enough and just trim to size. Contact adhesive it to a piece of board then use that as a front for a shallow draw.

If you could get away with 110mm then woodfit do a 110x596 draw front is stainless that is dressed round the sides of a board you you don't have to worry about what to do with the edges.

Metal supermarkets are national so you should be able to get something there. I just bought some 6mm thich stainless for a project yesterday.

Many thanks all, located a piece in Devon and collecting Monday. Its only 0.9 mm thick so I shall have to mount it on something like a drawer front as mentioned above.

Cost BTW was only £7.

pleased to report that oven space was completed to the ladies satisfaction, £7 for the SS, neighbour gave me some black 3mm thick ABS for the trim.

But it was over 4 hours of labour involved, so could you imagine charging a customer for that work.
