I know there has been a few threads on this but I was thinking of buying a cheap HVLP sprayer system ie Earlex or Apollo.

I need it for maybe for putting primer/undercoat on mdf units and I might even use it to put final coats of say gloss or satin on items.

I see they do a £50ish model http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/p ... ESPRAY.htm

and then http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/p ... ESPRAY.htm

or maybe this Apollo one would be better http://www.axminster.co.uk/product.asp? ... e=1&jump=0

I wouldnt normally buy cheap tools but as its not something that I am going to use all the time I thought it might do.

Has anyone got any of the above can you give me a bit of advice thanks

Also I already have a 1.5hp/24l Stanley compressor if there are any options with that.

Have you seen the Wood Whisperer's review of the earlex system?

The link to pentagon direct is odd, it flashes up the Earlex sprayer and immediately jumps to another page with no way to go back to the item.
I have the B&Q Performance Power one that was reviewed on here (by Philly?), which only cost £50. Sadly they are no longer available. If you are going to use it on items you are making for customers you will want the best finish you can reasonably get. Think about it this way, one badly finished batch of units could mean no repeat business from that customer. I only spray stuff for myself but the Clerk of Works (SWMBO) sets high standards. Because I don't have a ventilated spray booth, I only work with waterbased paints, but that works fine for the MDF cabinet doors and drawer fronts I have made for kitchen and bedroom units.

For anyone interested in this model, they do pop up on Ebay from time to time - I recently picked one up unused, in its original packing, for £30.
