I am indebted to Chrisd for alerting me to todays' sale of 'architectural salvage' run by Pughs'. As it happened, we were driving past yesterday and went in to see if there was anything to interest SWMBO. You know, the odd garden statue, that sort of thing. Instead we were faced with piles of junk. Motor mowers of indeterminate functional status. Old Rayburns. And junk. Junk as far as the eye could see.
So when we got home I went through the pile of junk that I had ready for the tip and took it down to the auction. A bit of a punt, I thought, especially as it would cost me £2 per lot. Seven lots. Potential to lose £14.
I went there today and picked up my £99 less my £14 'stake' money. £85!!!! For nowt. I'm well chuffed.
So now I'm going through the woodpile for 'turning blanks'. Rummaging through odd bits of offcuts ...all getting ready for the next wood sale. And, of course, going through the rest of my junk...
