I use a feather board at times if I’m doing repeated cuts and a push stick to push.

As a newbie table saw owner this is an interesting thread.

Sorry if it's daft question but when ripping why does nobody use a featherboard on the spare mitre slot to apply pressure on the board towards the fence? All you have to do then is push with a stick no?

Usually two reasons :

1. Cutting wide pieces can mean a featherboard won't fit
2. Laziness - unless you're making repeated rips of wood all the same width, you have to keep resting the featherboard each time. Most people can't be bothered

I use one mainly when I'm cutting long pieces. Otherwise, my hand is my featherboard

A feather board might have a use on a TS when ripping, but often not. Wany edged material and boards that are not parallel in width all make a feather board useless, and more often than not, this is the sort of stock I'll be ripping.

I rip natural timber more and more often on the bandsaw, TBH and I think it wise to do so when possible in preference to the TS.
