How Many Bank Accounts!!!

My father in law (in his late eighties) has been in hospital for six months. The hospital now want to discharge him to a care home. That is all well and good, however we need to get his finances in order to pay for his care, when the money runs out his house will have to be sold.
The problem we have is, he is no longer capable of telling us how many bank accounts he has. My sister in law has power of attorney, she has today discovered by chance one more account with a goodly amount in it but has yet to discover which account his pension is paid into!! So there is definitely at least one more account!
Does any body know of a way in which we can find this out?

The people paying the pension will know into which account they are paying it.

Have you tried a credit search as that might show up accounts .

There is a service set up by UK Finance called My Lost Account. Your sister in law can apply on his behalf.

Also, take a look at Gretel who provide a similar service.

There isn’t an easy way to be certain something has not been missed. Unless the account is dormant a statement has to be issued annually so ensuring post is redirected/safe may help.

That was my first though but a credit search only reveals debt!
