How Are These For Chopping Veneer?

I've only ever used them for 'cross-slicing' and they are very very good, but was wondering if anybody uses it for 'rip-slicing'? Or if it's a bit course?

These sorts of machines are designed to cut paper and card. It probably would cut veneer but it does seem a bit expensive compared to the cost of a Stanley knife and straight edge. The blade would also have to be kept razor sharp as well which would be a bit difficult when you would need to remove it, grind and then hone the edge. That said, I have used a commercial veneer guillotine which worked very well - Rob
