I occasionally get some hornbeam, it spalts really nicely. With large black splashes rather than the thin lines in beech. Also it does not go soft as quickly as beech. A lot of hornbeam is coppice timber hence its use in small items and as firewood. Occasional big trees do turn up now and again.

Yes, this worth waiting for - I saw my first piece on Friday, it was stunning.
