Last week I had an argument with a mailbox and the mailbox won. So whilst sitting around healing, I decided to further inflict my thoughts on the general woody public with a new blog...

Looking good so far, and always nice to make the acquaintance of someone interested in the history of tools.

I recently came by some photocopies of old Ashley Iles catalogues, I'm not sure of the exact date but they pre-date the move from Pensylvia works in Sheffield to East Kirkby in Lincolnshire from where the firm still operates. It is these early Sheffield tools that are of particular interest to collectors and they now sell for substantially more than the new ones.

I just realized that I had not ok'd notification of emails or posts. That has been corrected. So I was not ignoring you, just unaware of the world at large. Ashley Isles edge tools are amongst my favorites. If you can get images of your copies, I'ld be happy to give them a home.
