As you consider it unnecessary ever to change your power supplier you are possibly not the best person in the world to go to for financial advice.

Anyone who can't be bothered to shop around deserves to get stuffed imho. I do it for every sizeable purchase and all utilities and financial institutions.

Renewed my house and contents insurance last week and saved £68 from my existing provider just by challenging and telling them I was shopping around. I phoned them last and consider well worth doing but the quotes from major providers ranged from £277 to £683 for almost exactly the same cover. The company who quoted the highest was recommended by a mate who's renewed automatically without query for more than 20 years  he was gobsmacked when I told him yesterday!

My neighbour can't be bothered to change - if I were paying for electricity on the same tariff in an identical bungalow (eco 7 - no gas) it would have cost me an extra £450 last year. She says it's too much bother - but £450 for fifteen minutes on the phone is fine by me. I don't earn £1800 an hour. :D
My wife didn't bargain, but she came in a few years ago laughing saying she had bought a complete bed and a good mattress, and tried her luck asking for a discount. The guy said of course and gave her £60 off.
She bargains now. Everything is valued in bottles of wine, not money. We never get £20 off something - we get four free bottles of wine with it.

I do that in horse manure. Every discount I get is measured in tonnage of horse manure. I could use tonnage of Farage's but that's more revolting than horse manure.
The amount of sht I saved by changing leccy supplier was unbelievable!

calmed down a bit now, unlike me to get so annoyed
less than a day left on the auction, and i do want this one
even though i wont have a clue how to fit an inverter
