Hello, my names is Steve i'm a joiner working for my local council. I like collecting saws and old hand tools. I'm particularly interested in early Spear and Jackson saws. I have a facimile copy of the 1900 catalogue in a book with three other american saw makers which is useful as a starting point, but my next catalogue is in the 30's. i'd like to find out the meaning of the single and double mermaids on some of my saws, are they an indicator of quality?
