Hi, I am from Northern Ireland. I'm an IT geek but I'm also into lockpicking and I've recently started making my own picks. That's lead me into looking into a scroll saw for making wooden handles for them. I've been using a Japanese pull saw for the smaller straight cuts but it's quite difficult to do longer cuts and keep them straight.

Anyway thanks for letting me join!

Had you thought of a lathe to make the handles - or do you want to keep them flat?
Scroll saw / bandsaw (more general use?) for flat though.

I may look into doing some round handles at some point but for now I'll stick with the flat ones. Really all I need is to be able to split pen blanks and make small cuts to insert the steel into the handles. At the minute I'm shaping them with a belt sander or dremel

Another option. I make handles from heat shrink sleeving? Just heat up on the pick, normally single
thickness, two if you're fussy. Works well, more comfortable than wood?

I've used the heat shrink before but I'm enjoying learning to make some fancier looking stuff. I'm in a couple of lockpicking groups on Facebook and some of the custom stuff people make are gorgeous looking
