I have a PRS guitar with a chip out of the finish in the headstock.

The finish on this is jet black and quite thick.

I’m thinking of using medium or thick CA glue to repair it but not sure if I can colour CA glue?

Thanks in anticipation.

AJ's link says that if this is pre 2019 then it's catalysed polyester. CA is the chip repair for that, and you can buy black CA.

The technique is to build up slowly in layers until the repair stands proud of the surface, scrape back with a razor blade, then sand and polish. Plenty of YouTube videos showing the process.

If 2019 or 2020 then you may have nitrocellulose lacquer over the poly. CA will damage the nitro. I *think* the repair is to scrape back the nitro for 10mm or so around the chip, fill with CA as above, then apply nitro over the top - again, there are useful videos on spot refinishing with nitro.
