A bit of a long shot.

I’m here in Nailsea (BS48) putting a fence up for mother in law, but I need to rip one length of timber down lengthways.

It’s a bit of 5x1 (125x20mm) softwood, 2m long.

I need to cut it on a tangent, so need access to a table, or bandsaw for one cut. It needs to go 125-35mm over its length.

I’ve brought all the rest of tools and nearly finished the job, but need to rip this one piece down.

It would save a trip back to Shepton Mallet to use my own, then bring it back.

Is there anyone local who would rip it down, or let me use their saw.
I’m very experienced with machinery, but appreciate people don’t let others use theirs.

Outdoor need doing on weds 18th.

Here’s hoping.

Whilst not ideal at 20mm thick and being for a fence a jigsaw could also do it - or to save a round trip a hand saw. I’ve sawn similar by hand and while I wouldn’t put it in my top 10 woodworking experiences, it wouldn’t be in the bottom 10 either.
Another option could be a local men’s shed
Good luck!

Yea, ripping 2m isn’t fun, might have to go buy a rip hand saw, the cross cut one I have is too fine toothed. No jig or circular saw with me, just the mitre saw.

No local woodyards there that would do it for a drink? No friendly neighbours?

You’re joking surely, I could have ripped it down with a hard point handsaw in the time it took you to write the request. Rest the wood on a step up kneel on it and off you go, Not even worth picking up the circular saw for that.
