Bought this recently but it didn't come with a manual.
Wish all tools were built like this but it's old and needs some TLC.
I'm hoping that someone out there could let me have a photocopy - I will
happily reimburse all costs plus inconvenience.
I would also be grateful to know the original blade size (L x W x Th) as
it's currently fitted with cut down Delta blades.
Thanks
Tom

Spoke to Mike (Martin has left) who is sending me a copy of the manual. I'm hoping this will give details of the blade size because no one seems to know what this should be. Thanks agin for the tip.
Tom

Hi Tom,

Glad to hear you have a manual underway.
I would imagine that you can measure the approx sizes for the knives. They are usually between 2.5 to 3.2mm thick and protrude by a few mm when pushed in against the springs (if fitted). There are ebay sellers of knives that are far cheaper than 'genuine' branded parts and seem to be good quality and old their edge just as well.

The planer blades are 210x12x1.5
Elu part number is HSS E38770 or Tungsten E38769
I have not been able to find these blades anywhere but am interested in the Delta blades.

Can you tell me which size to get.

Sorry about delay in replying but have been a bit busy.
I will remove one of the modded Delta blades at the weekend to eliminate ambiguities over blade size and blade slots etc
I was told the blade is Delta DEL22562.

I've taken out a blade to check things properly.
Blade I was told is DEL 22562 (121/2") cut down to 210mm.
It measures 1.36mm thick and 12.38mm wide (using vernier).
The Delta blade has 3 small slots which reduce to 2 when it is shortened.
The slots are however redundant because they do not coincide with the 2 small locating lugs on the elu "wedge" that had been filed off.
The blades clearly work but with reduced safety (no positive engagement lugs in blade slots). The Delta blades are double edged, which is just as well as there is not much in hand on the nom 12.38 mm width. Perhaps a very minor touch up only.
If the lugs are removed it looks OK for any 210mm x 12.0-12.5mm x 1.5mm plain blade. A 3mm thick blade would be problematic but 2mm might be OK if shavings don't get caught in crevice between "wedge" and back of blade. I'm not sure. Blades greater than 12.5mm wide could not be lowered enough.
Hope this helps anyone else with the same problem.
Any suggestions for cheap sources of suitable single or double edged plain blades that could be shortened?

Your blades are both narrower and thinner than those I have come across or listed by several suppliers.

I'd be tempted to talk to your local saw doctors or perhaps Bedford saws who lurk here from time to time.

Hopefully this will clarify matters.
I've just purchased the Delta DEL 22562 blades. They will be a good fit when shortened to 210mm.
They measure 12.2mm wide, and are double edged.
As 12.2mm is slightly greater than 12mm (ELU original?) I would be happy to regrind one edge but regrinding both edges could leave insufficient blade protruding above the wedge.

Thanks to all for helping.
