Hi Folks,

I've got to the stage where I need a 'bench stool' to use for some operations at the bench. Maybe when my knees are 'fixed', I might not need to sit to do woodwork, but at the moment for certain tasks I do. Or at least, I need somewhere to park my posterior when my legs get too 'achey'. So I want to make a four-legged stool.

I have a nice round piece of Ash, about 12" in diameter x 2" thick. Unfortunately my lathe isn't in commission. So, may I use some 'brass-nerve' and ask is there anyone close to North Birmingham whom I could persuade to turn this blank into a seat for me?

I wouldn't expect a 'free-lunch'. I would be grateful if there is anyone who can fit this in for me.
Thanks in Anticipation.

John :)

John, have you considered making it 3 legs
instead of 4. From what i remember reading
somewhere, It's a lot easier to make it level
i believe, especially if you have an uneven
floor.

Hi Kevin,

You could be right! My shop-floor is quite flat, but it does slope towards the door, as it is really a garage. So, three legs it is! (I wonder if I put one leg on the stool I could use it like a shooting-stick!)

With four legs I might have to cut bits off each leg to level it, and finish up with a four-legged 'milking-stool' instead! :D :D :D :D

Thanks for that.

Happy Turning
John
