HELP Is the Charnwood W585 any good? Or should I be looking at something else for the price?[/b] :x

I have had very poor service from charnwood in the past so i would be looking at the JET JPT-310 OR EBAY.

I have several Charnwood tools (extractor, 12" depth of cut bandsaw, 12" disc grinder, morticer, wood lathe, spindle sander

None have given me any problems and the oldest is around 10 years now.

I live near the business and they have always bene freindly and curteous and offered me discounts on the badnsaw as I was a 'regular' customer

I've also had good service from Charnwood, back when my previous planer thicknesser needed a new motor and other firms (including Axminster) could only offer me one with a six-week wait for delivery... Charnwood had them in stock. :)

I'm one of the few who've suffered with alignment problems on the AW106PT (the Charnwood does look very similar, with bigger capacities). To be fair though, I've seen a number of other people buy the Axminster and Fox machines without complaint. Axminster were more than willing to help me out, that is true. At the very least though, if you do get problems with your Charnwood machine, at the very least, they should be able to replace it for you at no extra cost.
