Just bought a second hand Record CL2. :? I've done quite a bit on machine lathes using metal but I've never used a woodturning lathe before, so what do I need to know? What extras will I need? I'll probably try a bowl or two but I bought the lathe mainly to do table legs. All or any info will help me on the slope

depends on what came with the lathe and how much you are willing to spend at the moment.
have a go at turning between centres first before trying for a bowl and get used to the tools and get a feel of things.
see if there is a woodturning club near you or books and dvd's .
there you are before you know it your on that slope.
if you want information this is the place to be.

Good advice from treefella83 ...

A Club is the answer... if she won't part with the housekeeping or raise your allowance... use it!

most good clubs will usually welcome one or two 'free' visits before expecting you to join... they are a valuable source of info and experience to newcomers to w'turning. Take every opportunity to watch other turners working...

Check out the Register of Professional Turners for any of them offering tuition... it will save you from a lot of frustration

Huh, nothing wrong with me. [-( I'm totally unfazed by watching spinny things going round, and round, and round, and round, and round...
