Help identify tool - vintage pliers - SOLVED thanks

Just curious what these are - facom brand but can't read any more .
Assuming they are metalwork tool , just don't know. Searched by image , etc.

Not 100% sure, but I think they are used for nailing barbed wire to posts and the plier bit is for removing the staples. Ian

Yep - fencing pliers - I had a pair just the same (but new) bought with a load of fence posts and wire . . quite a while ago.

If they are indeed fencing pliers (which it seems they are if robgul was provided with a pair with fencing materials), I wonder why the design has now changed?

because fences now tend to be in more populated places were you can drive to, so you can carry a hammer, a screwdriver and a pair of pliers with you without any real issue. when it's a choice between a tin of beans or a hammer, I'd have thought most horse riders would choice the tin of beans.

I reckons they are for pulling balance weights of steel wheels and tapping them back on.

I'm mostly woodworker so didn't think of garage tools .
